Kristi and John have always had a deep passion for wellness. With a unique, combined expertise in fitness, massage, and nutrition, they created Body Balance, a community where you can leave your busy life behind, and focus on developing your balanced & healthy lifestyle.

They design all their services – from fitness to massage to nutrition services – to be offered in a one-on-one, private & personal setting, assuring that each clients individual needs & wants are met. In 2015 we will be celebrating our local services with 18 years of excellence!

Certified Massage Therapist, ACE Certified Fitness Trainer & Nutrition Awareness Coach

Kristi envisioned Body Balance—a space for holistic wellness—while seeking a career change from her work as a Dental Hygienist, a profession she loved for the ability to help people, but that, because of its demands on her body, left her with extreme pain and headaches. This lead Kristi to seek out therapeutic massages, which worked so well she decided thiswas how she wanted to help people; wanting to provide a total wellness practice, Kristi added nutrition and fitness to her repertoire, and Body Balance was born. In her twenty years of working as a masseuse, Kristi estimates she’s given over 10,000 massages! We believe it’s her gentle spirit, deep concern for peoples’ total wellbeing, and certainly all that experience that have resulted in Body Balance being the welcoming space of wellness excellence it is known to be.

ACE Certified Personal Trainer & Senior Training Specialist

John started his professional fitness career in 1984, training clients at high-profile gyms in New York City, where he was born and raised. While himself fit and strong, John experienced during this time severe spine problems, including several herniated discs. In his extensive search to heal himself, he landed with a physical therapist who created an intense regime to correct John’s faulty body movement, imbalances, and weaknesses—the root of his spine problems. 
Diligently working seven days a week over seventeen months, John healed his spine, and in the process found his personal training calling: at the core of his practice is correcting imbalances and improper body mechanics through strength, stretching, and movement. John passionately shares his vast knowledge and expertise, and his infectious positive energy keeps clients engaged and motivated.

Certified Massage Therapist

Mary is known for her intuitive sense and commitment to helping her clients maintain balance of body, mind and spirit through personal awareness. In addition to offering Swedish and Soft Tissue Therapies, Mary has advanced studies in Pre-Natal, Reiki, Lomi Lomi and La Stone Therapies.

When Mary is not working wonders with her clients, Mary follows the advice she gives her clients- "take time for yourself by working out and receiving bodywork".

Certified Personal Trainer

Carl is certified through the National Health Club Association (NHCA). He has been a personal trainer for seventeen years. His passion for personal training began in Hawaii where he was also a lifeguard at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Resort. Working on the beaches taught him the importance of being both mentally and physically fit. After moving to Southern California he began his interest in boxing and studying Muay Thai, body building and continued his certification to be a Personal Trainer.

Like the ocean, life can calm one minute and rough the next. Helping people better themselves physically promotes self-confidence and when that happens they are better prepared to take on life’s big waves.

Certified Massage Therapist & Certified Personal Trainer

Christina Pimentel is a Certified Massage Therapist who studied at The World School of Massage and Holistic Healing Arts. She has training in many modalities including Deep Tissue, Swedish massage, Hot Stone, Soft Tissue Release, Pregnancy massage, Infant/child massage and Vibrational Healing Massage Therapy (VHMT). She is known for her therapeutically firm nurturing and skillful touch especially in the massage modalities of Deep Tissue, VHMT, and Hot stone.

When not facilitating healing in others, Christina spends her time with her partner, her daughter and their two dogs. She enjoys keeping healthy through weight lifting, punching bags, yoga, hiking, gardening, meditating, cooking, eating, and creating art.

Certified Massage Therapist

Pamela Smiley trained at the Chicago School of Massage Therapy and specializes in deep tissue massage. She embraces the Body Balance philosophy and clients respond to Pamela's outstanding therapeutic massages and warm personality. Working exclusively on Sundays, Pamela will enhance your weekend and prepare you for your busy week ahead.

Pamela loves being active and is often found outdoors, playing softball in Pleasanton and going to baseball games — especially returning "home" to Wrigley Field to cheer on her Cubbies. Pamela also enjoys her family, friends and traveling.

Certified Massage Therapist & Certified Personal Trainer

Olivia began her massage therapy career in Bend Oregon after completing her Associates of Applied Science from COCC and obtaining 1300 hours of massage therapy certification in 2010. Soon after, she decided to relocate to the Bay Area where she became part of the Body Balance team.

Since then, Olivia continues to build her client base and her manual therapy knowledge. She often attends massage therapy seminars and workshops in order to advance her skills and to stay current with new methods. She specializes in Deep Tissue but also implements various other manual techniques such as

- SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment)

Olivia prides herself in creating a personal and effective treatment plan for each patient to assure the best possible outcome. A relationship with her patients is very important to her.

Olivia enjoys living in the East Bay with her husband and 1 year daughter. They Love the outdoors and attending local activities.

ACE Certified Personal Trainer Donna McKibben has a decades' long passion for health and wellness. In particular, since she was in her early 20s she has spent countless hours at the gym, where she enthusiastically challenges herself to achieve whole body strength and fitness-that is, she loves lifting some heavy weights! Donna also has a great interest in helping others, especially when it comes to assisting them to be their best self and lead an active, healthy life. So though new to the world of personal training, Donna's background has well prepared her for this career, which she is thoroughly loving every minute of! Also, while serious about her and her clients' commitment to overall well-being, she is a firm believer in balance-so following her passions for fine food and wine are also on the menu. Donna enjoys working with clients of all ages, ability levels, and goals. Her overriding interest is empowering others to pursue wellness, and to have a lot of fun with it along the way.

Cherie comes to Body Balance with a lifetime of experience as a competitive athlete, including spending her earlier years as a nationally competitive bicycle racer on the road and track, having earned her way on to a professional team. These days she has a dedicated yoga practice and participates in trail and road running events ranging from 5km to 50 miles.
It was a shocking wake-up for Cherie when, a few years ago, she experienced two very painful slipped discs. This led her on a healing journey of discovering the importance of body fundamentals: correct posture, flexibility, addressing muscle imbalances, developing proper body mechanics, and the like. She has a great passion for sharing what she has learned through this experience as well as her athletic background with her clients. It is always her aim to inspire people to find the joy, health, and healing in movement.

Certified Massage Therapist

Aimee graduated from the National Holistic Institute in 2004 and has enjoyed helping people feel better, manage chronic pain, rehabilitate injuries and relax in their bodies since. Being an avid outdoor lover, athlete and always physically active, she has worked with an array of different clients but is currently focused on pain management and specializing in injuries and sports massage.  Realigning the body through trigger point therapy, active participation from the client on the table and re balancing the body gives the most satisfaction when positive change is achieved.  From children to athletes, chronic pain sufferers, to the weekend warrior, Aimee loves to help her clients discover a renewed connection to their bodies in awareness and balance.  In her free time, she loves playing and exploring the great outdoors with her five year old and fiancee, riding bikes, hiking, camping and also travel are a few of the joys that refresh and rejuvenate her family when life gets hectic.

My name is Didi, a long time California girl with deep roots in my native French Canada. My passion is to help people feel good, look good, and blend good life habits into their daily lives while having fun.

I am living proof that the French conundrum isn’t a mystery after all, since it’s quite simply all about life choices and a little bit of luck.  I’ve kept physically active all of my life and strongly believe that an active lifestyle is key to good health and happiness.  My childhood passion for dance led me to a first career in classical ballet and modern dance.  Today I hold a master’s degree in Gerokinesiology and Exercise Physiology, as well as the following certifications:

I have never trained like this before. Carl has done a great job walking me through the process of training. I have learned so much about my body. I sure feel better able to do more. Carl offers a challenging workout, but he always makes it fun.
